The Big Marksbury Cake-Bake

​Thank you to everyone who took part in our very successful, first Big Marksbury Cake-Bake. The day was a lot of fun with all ages entering 30 creations into the competition. A tremendous effort was made by our cake-makers who really entered into the spirit of Bake-Off - some truly hidden talents were revealed! Of particular note was Iain Harrison's standout Halloween cake which won the Showstopper category and his famous almond slice which also came 1st in Tray Bakes. Of course, Iain also had to win the 'Star Baker' Prize! There were loads of high quality creations - too many to mention here! Linda, Dorothy, Clare and Karen of the WI carried out a thoroughly professional judging session even though they had to wade through so many cakes. We then opened up for prize-giving and afternoon tea and the hall soon became completely packed. Each and every cake was sold and the adult Showstopper entries were all auctioned off brilliantly by Neil. Thanks again to all who attended and helped out on the day - we managed to raise £300 to be split between the Village Hall improvement and Church Bell Repair funds. Photos to follow!
